Our Overall Approach
We support and are advocates for responsible tourism. We respect Barcelona’s neighbourhoods and collaborate with carefully-selected, small, local businesses in order to support the local economy. We run small, discreet tours to minimize adverse impacts of mass tourism.
Liability
The Barcelona Taste and its tour guides do not accept responsibility for any injury, loss, theft, damage, reactions to the food/drinks consumed, or unexpected events that might occur during the tours. We recommend purchasing medical and/or travel insurance to protect you and your ticket purchases against cases of illness, flight/train/bus delays or cancellations. You agree that The Barcelona Taste is not liable for loss associated with any unforeseen event and all claims must be processed through the guest’s insurance company directly.
Tour Running
Our standard Barcelona Tapas Tours typically last 3-3.5 hours and you can expect to be standing or walking part of the time. We try to walk at a very relaxed pace between establishments. There will usually be at least 2-3 spots to sit during the tour. Tours are normally run with 6 or fewer guests; we may extend this to a 7th or 8th guest to accommodate a lone traveller or other special request, particularly during our peak periods.
Our Craft Beer Tour typically typically last 3-3.5 hours and you can expect to be standing or walking part of the time. We try to walk at a very relaxed pace between establishments. There will usually be at least 2-3 spots to sit during the tour. There is a maximum experience capacity of 8 guests.
Our premium wine and food excursions are typically 3-7 hours long, and at the vineyards we will be on foot; the rest of the travel is done via private car. Groups are typically 3-6 but we can adjust this within reason as requested by the group leader. Occasionally, as we work with the region’s best and most popular small vineyards, during our wine excursions you may be joined by other guests.
Our Spanish Wine Tasting is 90 minutes long, located in a small tasting room, with a maximum experience capacity of 8 guests.
Our Premium Olive Oil Tasting is 75 minutes long, located in a boutique olive oil shop, with a maximum experience capacity of 8 guests.
Private group experiences, including larger / corporate groups, are designed to best suit the needs of the client and may be shorter or longer as a result, visiting a customized number of locations. In order to accommodate larger groups, we may split into smaller groups to fit into some of the wonderful, small restaurants we are lucky to work with, however, occasionally we will use larger venues in order for the entire larger group to be altogether.
Tours will occur in rain or shine. Please check the weather conditions on the day of your tour and dress appropriately. (Luckily, it doesn’t rain very often here!)
Guests are responsible for looking after their own personal belongings while on all of our experiences. Do not leave bags on the floor unattended or hanging on the back of a chair or sunglasses, mobile telephones or other personal items on the tables/bars.
Guests with infants and toddlers up to the age of 2 need not purchase a ticket for them. However, we do require that when purchasing tickets, you note that you will have an infant/small child with you, otherwise we cannot guarantee an appropriate amount of space. Children aged 2 or older require a full price ticket in order to attend.
Guests with special dietary requirements or requests must inform us at least 24 hours before the tour operates so that we can liaise with the restaurants and other suppliers and plan accordingly. We cannot guarantee the standard amount of food and/or drink to be consumed during the experience if such special needs are not provided to us by this deadline.
Cancellations, Refunds, Exchanges
We recommend purchasing medical and travel insurance to protect you and your ticket purchases against cases of flight/train/bus delays or cancellations, illness, or other such matters that may prevent attending a booked experience. You agree that The Barcelona Taste is not liable for loss associated with any unforeseen event and all claims must be processed through the guest’s insurance company directly.
If you or any member of your party becomes unwell and can no longer attend, please contact us. If you are unwell do not attend your tour and do not come to the tour meeting point. We understand from previous clients that individual medical/travel insurance should normally compensate you for your missed activity (contact your insurance provider directly).
Full refunds are available up to 48 hours prior to the start of our standard tapas tours, craft beer tour, wine tasting and olive oil tasting, less the small credit card handling fee. Due to our logistics and the arrangements we have with the venues we visit on our tours, we are unable to offer refunds on bookings made fewer than 48 hours before a tour begins.
When requesting a partial refund for a Group Discount booking, if fewer than 4 guests remain on the booking the amount refunded will reflect the correct Standard ticket price for those still attending.
Re-bookings, or exchanging tickets purchased for one date for another date, can occasionally be honoured on case by case basis and with sufficient advance notice, but are not guaranteed. Re-bookings depend on tour place(s) availability and the availability of our restaurants and guides. Requests to change dates within 48 hours of the booked tour/experience start time are generally not possible; where these requests can be honoured there is a rebooking fee of min. 30€ per person. If we cannot rebook to a suitable date with availability, the original booking will stand and if not attended will count as a last-minute cancellation (after the 48-hours prior to the tour start time cut-off point) or a no-show and therefore not be eligible for a refund.
Please note that private experiences, including for large groups, must be confirmed at least one week in advance and are non-refundable.
Wine excursions are by design private tours and therefore also non-refundable.
Our tours and experiences are contingent on the availability of the venues that we collaborate with. While our host venues are extremely dependable, very occasionally they may be required to close at short notice as a result of facilities- or staffing-related issues; this is especially the case in mid-August and around the New Year. On the rare occasion of cancellation of a tour by us, The Barcelona Taste, we will try to arrange another tour time with our guest(s). If this is not possible, a full refund will be issued.
Gift cards are valid for two years; unused gift cards will not be refunded and may not be redeemed beyond their period of validity.
All purchases and bookings are non-transferable.
Lateness, Illness, Intoxication & No-show
Guides will depart at the stated tour start time with those present; they have no choice but to consider the guests that arrived in good time as well as the time sensitive reservations we have made with our venues. A similar rule of thumb applies to private tours, as we make commitments with restaurants at set times, and our other experiences.
Lateness for a wine excursion may affect the tour schedule and in some instances may preclude guests from visiting both vineyards that are normally incorporated in a full-day excursion booking.
By purchasing a ticket, you agree to self-certify that you are free of contagious illnesses and accept that violation of policies will cause removal from the event without refund.
In light of our duty of care for the guides, restaurant partners and other guests, and in compliance with the terms of our insurance, any guests that arrive intoxicated will be asked to leave and will not be issued any refund.
As we work with very small, local restaurants, vineyards and other venues who purchase and prepare food and drink specifically for our guests, we are unable to refund tickets in the event of non-attendance (no-show).
Private Group Bookings
Private Barcelona Taste tapas tours are approximately 2-3.5 hours in length and typically visit 2-3 establishments, depending on group size. We can typically accommodate private tour bookings of between 1 and 14 guests. Large groups may be split into concurrent tours given the small size of the local establishments with which we work.
Private group food tour tickets must be purchased at least one week in advance by the organizer(s); this way we can work with the restaurants to source the very best local food to suit the needs of your party.
Private tours are available Mondays – Saturdays (inclusive) on most, but not all, of our tour routes (most of our restaurants are closed on Sundays and Monday but if you are only interested in these days do get in touch and we’ll see what we can do!).
Private tour tickets are non-refundable and cannot be reassigned or re-scheduled.
It is the private booking organizer’s responsibility to advise The Barcelona Taste of any allergies or other dietary requirements at the time of confirming the booking. We cannot guarantee the standard amount of food and drink to be consumed during the tour if such special needs are not provided to us by this deadline.
Tours are never cancelled due to weather.
