The Gothic Quarter
Evening Tapas Tour
Less small talk, more small plates
An evening tapas tour with The Barcelona Taste is like dinner out with friends of a friend – at the best restaurants in town. Our tour groups are typically no larger than 6, meaning we can keep things intimate and discreetly visit the highest quality small food establishments… those most loved by locals.
You will visit three of the best restaurants in Barcelona, where you get to eat plenty of food and a variety of top quality drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic).
You share a personal, relaxed evening with a local guide, who will lead you safely through Barcelona. Conversations will flow, be they about the neighbourhood, each dish that we order, Barcelona life, culture and history and any and everything else that comes up throughout the course of the night.
Barcelona’s famous Gothic Quarter is, rightly, one of the highlights of any trip to Barcelona. Walking through the ancient roads of the Ciutat Vella (old city) takes you past Roman walls, alongside cathedrals, through precious plazas – you can feel the history oozing from every brick.
However, “the Gótico” can be a bit of a tourist trap – particularly when it comes to food. But it doesn’t have to be that way. In amongst (sadly) many tourist traps there are some truly divine family-run restaurants that preserve the best of Spanish and Catalan cuisine. You just have to know how to find them – and that is where we can help.
Our tapas tour of the Gothic Quarter will take you to a number of small top quality restaurants, leaving you sated, jolly, and with a better understanding o where to go and what to order to make the most of your stay. The Barcelona Taste launched in 2009 with food tours of the Barri Gotic and these tours are therefore our first love. They are a wonderful traditional option in Barcelona’s most popular historic setting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely! Barcelona is packed with amazing food, but knowing where to go is the real challenge. A food tour saves you from the tourist traps and takes you straight to the best, most authentic spots. You’ll taste the true flavors of Barcelona, hear the stories behind the dishes, and experience the city like a local—not just a visitor. Plus, let’s be honest, wandering the Gothic Quarter or El Born with a glass of vermut in hand is much more fun when you have an expert guide leading the way.
Barcelona’s culinary scene is a delicious mix of Catalan tradition and Mediterranean influences. You can’t leave without trying pa amb tomàquet (bread rubbed with tomato and olive oil), jamón ibérico (cured ham that melts in your mouth), and the legendary patatas bravas (crispy potatoes with spicy sauce). Seafood lovers, get ready for suquet de peix (a rich fish stew), and of course, a visit isn’t complete without indulging in crema catalana, the local (and arguably superior) version of crème brûlée.
Yes, absolutely. There’s a Catalan concept, gaudir, which means to enjoy or take pleasure in something deeply. That’s the feeling we believe every visitor should experience in Barcelona.
You’ll find that spirit of gaudir from locals when you connect with the city respectfully. It’s found when you support the bustling local markets like Santa Caterina, help keep the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter quiet at night, and take time to appreciate the incredible Modernista architecture. This is the authentic Barcelona experience.
It’s this connection we create on our Eating Europe tours. We step away from the crowds and take you to the places locals truly love, introducing you to the people behind the food and the stories that make this city one of a kind.
